Colour gradients on Gimp..

The 'colour gradient' (or color if you prefer) has become synonymous with Web 2.0. You might loath it or love it but I think most people like it and it can add a bit of instant style to your site (although it can be over-used).
And if you don't want to create the images you can download the 130 ultimate web 2.0 gradients for GIMP from gimp-tutorials.net. Now I wonder just how long before everyone gets bored of gradients and it becomes a has-been style...
The more I use GIMP the more I like it and would heartily recommend it. Someone suggested that it wouldn't match PhotoShop but a quick google on 'gimp vs photoshop' provides plenty of opinion. The conclusion seems to be that GIMP would be suitable for most unless your doing professional graphics work - something do do with printing standards and colour palettes. And of course GIMP runs on Mac and Linux
